JAKARTA  A number areas in Jakarta has been flooded after heavy rains that started this morning. In Tanjung Duren, West Jakarta the water reached up to half a meter and at some distance from that location, water reaches 70 centimeters. Roads are completely blocked and cause gigantic traffic jams. The Permata Hijau housing complex in Southern Jakarta was flooded with some 40 centimeters of water.

In many locations flooding causes traffic to come to a complete stop. Not only the main streets were full of traffic, smaller streets joined in as well. In Jalan Panjang, Western Jakarta, every crossing and every toll road access was completely blocked. Access to the Bonjet toll road was blocked because of heavy traffic jams over several kilometers. Outside toll roads, main streets like Jalan Sudirman are also flooded. The lower sections of the Semanggi flyover could not be passed by traffic.
