Air Force Helicopter Crash

A helicopter from the Indonesian Military (TNI) Air Force crashed at Lubuk Agung Village, Langgam District, Pelalawan Regency at 3.05pm WIB (Indonesian Western Time) yesterday (7/1). Out of the nine passengers, four were TNI Air Force officers and five were civilians. All passengers suffered from burns and were evacuated to Pekanbaru, Riau.
“There were no victims in the accident,” said Pelalawan Resort Police Chief, Adj. Chief Comm. Gusti K. Gunawan yesterday.
Nonetheless, according to the TNI Air Force Head of the Information Service, Air Commander Daryatmo, the helicopter only had four Air Force officers. “No civilian victims,” he said.
Gusti said that his team was with the Pekanbaru Air Force Airport’s evacuation team who vacated the victims and the helicopter immediately.
According to Gusti, the copter crashed at 3.05pm WIB on a local palm oil plantation. “Half an hour later, there was contact. We went to the location directly and evacuated the victims,” he said.
So far the cause of the accident is not yet known. “That’s the Air Force’s authority,” said Gusti.
According to Gusti, before falling, the copter’s pilot had contact with the nearest tower, 30 kilometers from the accident .
