JAKARTA  PT Angkasa Pura II, the operator for Soekarno-Hatta international airport is ready to divert flights from the airport to the Halim Perdanakusuma airport in eastern Jakarta. This was announced by General Manager Edie Haryoto at the time the preparations were still ongoing earlier on Sunday. The airport will be used as an alternative for the time being because of floods at and around the Soekarno-Hatta international airport.

Edie told that the planned diversion of planes is arranged to catch up with the delay times of the planes that should land and depart at Soekarno-Hatta. According to Edie, all facilities like air traffic management, check-in and others were ready to be used for a number of flights.

The airport of Halim Perdanakusuma has a runway with a length of 3200 meters, which is enough for planes like the Boeing 737 and the Airbus A320 to land at the emergency airport. For the time being this airport is only used for domestic flights however. Today only Merpati Nusantara Airlines is scheduling to fly to Halim Perdanakusuma instead of Soekarno-Hatta.
