Hundreds of people evacuated in Sukoharjo

SUKOHARJO Hundreds of residents from the village of Kadokan, in Grogol, sub-district Sukoharjo in central Java are forced to evacuate because floods that have already inundated their houses is still getting worse. Villagers are forced to find shelter in the local mosque because their houses are flooded in over one meter of water. This flood is caused by high amounts of rainfall and rising waters in the Bengawan Solo river.

Five hospitalized as Adam Air jetliner skids off runway

BATAM  Five passengers of a jetliner that skidded off a runway on the northern island of Batam on Monday were admitted to hospital, some with neck and head injuries. One of the five left hospital later in the day after doctors said his injuries were not serious.

The Boeing 737-400 with 169 passengers and six crews ran out of runway at the Hang Nadim Airport when it landed amid heavy rain, the leading news website Detikcom reported. The plane owned by budget carrier Adam Air sustained serious damage at the right wing, landing gear and nose.
