Floods hit big parts of Jakarta

JAKARTA  A number areas in Jakarta has been flooded after heavy rains that started this morning. In Tanjung Duren, West Jakarta the water reached up to half a meter and at some distance from that location, water reaches 70 centimeters. Roads are completely blocked and cause gigantic traffic jams. The Permata Hijau housing complex in Southern Jakarta was flooded with some 40 centimeters of water.

In many locations flooding causes traffic to come to a complete stop. Not only the main streets were full of traffic, smaller streets joined in as well. In Jalan Panjang, Western Jakarta, every crossing and every toll road access was completely blocked. Access to the Bonjet toll road was blocked because of heavy traffic jams over several kilometers. Outside toll roads, main streets like Jalan Sudirman are also flooded. The lower sections of the Semanggi flyover could not be passed by traffic.

 

Eight dead in landslide in Aceh Singkil

ACEH SINGKIL After heavy rains since last Thursday, a landslide occurred in the village of Situbuhtubuh in sub-sub-district Danau Paris, Aceh Singkil. Two houses were buried in the landslide, which resulted in eight victims. At this moment the local police, the Indonesian army and the Red Cross are at the location to clean the location. Some heavy equipment from PT Lestari Tunggal Pratama were brought to the location as well.
