In Bali, giving gift packages is not merely a way to show care for one’s friends but also a way to practice religious tolerance.

This statement didn’t come from an influential religious leader or powerful community figure, but from store managers, the very people who witness people giving and receiving gift packages through their stores during religious holidays.

“The most important thing is that being of a different faith does not make the Balinese turn their backs on their friends who practice different creeds. Balinese send others gift packages on their religious occasions, even though the receivers practice different religions from the senders,” Novie Setyo Utomo, operational manager of Tiara Dewata supermarket.

SBY to inaugurate double-track line
