Suharto develops possible deadly blood infection

soeharto1.jpgJAKARTA Ailing former dictator Suharto has developed sepsis, a potentially deadly blood infection, and the 86-year-old’s heart became unstable Tuesday, his medical team said. Sepsis, characterized by a whole-body inflammatory state caused by infection, can progress to blood circulatory dysfunction and eventually death. It is considered especially dangerous for the elderly or patients in critical condition and can lead to septic shock, which has a fatality rate of more than 60 percent.

Landslide in outskirts of Jayapura kills eleven

JAYAPURA At least 11 people died in a landslide in the area of Dok 2 in the city of Jayapura in Papua. The landslide occurred after heavy rains lashed the area for quite some time. Heavy rain started to fall last night and didn’t stop until this morning. Members from the local police, the army and local residents are searching for victims that are still missing under the rubble.
